Former White House Flower Designer Coming to Preswick Glen October 25

NEW HARTFORD, NY (Sept. 14, 2009) – The public is invited to an appearance and demonstration by Cathy Miller, dried flower designer, lecturer and author, on Sunday, October 25, from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.

Mrs. Miller has often been called the "First Lady of Flowers" as she has personally designed arrangements for five sitting presidents including Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Although music has been the dominant passion throughout Mrs. Miller's life, her love for flowers made her an avid gardener as well. After purchasing a farm in Cooperstown some 30 years ago and growing an abundance of flowers, she began experimenting with the drying process so that she could preserve some of the garden's beautiful bounty.

Mrs. Miller has written and published many articles for a variety of home and garden magazines including Family Circle, Better Homes and Gardens, Brides, Victorian Decorating, Women's Day, Garden and Outdoor Living, and made appearances on several television shows including Discovery Channel and Victory Garden.

Reservations are encouraged for this event as space is limited. Please call 734-9586 to reserve your space. Admission is $10 for the public and seasonal refreshments will be served. Preswick Glen is located at 55 Preswick Drive in New Hartford.
